WaveFont

So far, speech and text have been treated independently. WaveFont is innovative by relating these units to each other — for the first time. WaveFont adjusts the shape to each character according to particular acoustic features in the spoken reference, such as speed, intonation and emotions.

How it works

  • 1

    Speech recording.

  • 2

Analysis, e.g. loudness and speed (further properties possible)

  • 3

Transfer of the spoken word to the written word.

Our Passion

Since WaveFont provides an intuitive representation of intonation, pauses and pronunciation of words, it enhances the reading and cinema experience and is interesting for the politically important topics accessibility, integration and inclusion: WaveFont displays meta-information in subtitles giving deaf and hearing-impaired people additional information they have been excluded from so far. Additionally, foreign citizen are able to better understand and experience TV and cinema and to learn a language faster.

  • WaveFont by Silicon Surfer aims to unite speech and text by using different-shaped fonts to visually explain pronunciation. This has huge potential in language learning, as well as reading for the hearing impaired.
